Got into serials as a 1940s/50s kid with radio and TV overlapping. The kid shows replayed the 1930s/40s serials and cowboy films to fill time, and it was great. Circa 1985 a friend in video business told me that he'd just bought rights to a bunch of old Republic serials and had no idea who would like this stuff -- told him "I would!" He gave me a box with 12 for Christmas and I was hooked. Have embued my six (6?) children with an interest in these over the years... even my good wife... Retired recently after 40 years as an Episcopal minister (and film critic for the church's national magazine).
